3 disclaimers: On rules, historical accuracy and my tendency to drop projects

Hey there.

I'm Ajay, for those that don't know me, and I am the most butterfly-minded simmer you'll ever meet. Seriously, I get through projects like kids get through shoes. Now I'm not a parent, but I've heard they grow pretty damn fast. So, first disclaimer: I will probably get bored and drop this project after, like, three entries, maybe? If you're ready for that then...

next disclaimer: I hate rules. "Why are you doing a challenge then Ajay?" I don't hear you ask. Weeelll, I like the idea of the challenge, I like the overall ethos of the ruleset. But following rules religiously makes me get fed up with stuff fast and stop having fun. So although this challenge is based on a combination of various challenges (history, through the ages, eras, creation to future etc.) I am basically going to be making it up as I go along. The idea is this: I start in the stone age with adult sims. Those adults have kids and raise them to adulthood. Those kids have kids and raise them to adulthood. When those kids (of the kids - still with me?) have their first child, ie. the first child of generation 3, I will move into the next era, which is probably going to be some sort of classical Greco-Roman setting, but as cc for that style seems very thin on the ground, I might make it a Gaul/Viking type setting instead. The idea is that as the generations pass, we move through different eras - medieval, industrial, frontier, (or are those the other way around? I mean, technically they overlap, just in different areas, right?), twenties, war time, fifties... lets face it by this point I'll have stopped, so not sure there's much point trying to map out any further. ;)

Which brings me to the final disclaimer: This isn't going to be accurate. Now, I love anthropology and history, but the past was a terrible place where very few people had rights and everyone else slaved until they died, and honestly I don't want to play through that. Plus making anything remotely accurate in the sims is pretty hard and I have to say hats off to all the folks that play a realistic medieval/victorian etc. game and actually make it work. Each era is going to be an inaccurate caricature. On top of that, I'm not interested in playing with gender/sexuality restrictions. Mainly because it breaks my heart to think of all the people in the past who had to hide who they were and force themselves into relationships or roles that weren't right. So... think of this like... not history, but a recreation of history. A new planet similar to our own. Or post-total-wipeout or something. Gender equality, sexuality equality, a lot less disease and murder. :)

ok! Onwards!
